Guided Imagery, Deep Breathing, & Relaxation Techniques

What is guided imagery and deep Breathing technique? How can technology be used for this technique?

Deep breathing technique and guided imagery technique can be used when you are in difficult situations, before tests, and as a way of reducing stress, tension, and anxiety. By learning to relax your mind and body, you may feel better, and you will be decreasing the amount of oxygen that your body needs. Guided imagery helps you use your imagination to take you to a calm, peaceful place. For instance, if you want a summer setting, you can imagine the warm sun on your skin, the bright blue color of the sky, the sound of birds singing, and the sweet scent of regional flowers and the taste of a favorite summer fruit so that you actually feel like you are there. Technology can be used in simple ways to effectively support students and clients in relaxation techniques by listening to music, and listening to voice assisted music to help guide clients to relax.

Listen and Relax Breathing Task Analysis Relax completely Lay down or sit quietly in a comfortable position Take a slow deep breath through your nose. let go of your breath very slowly Continue taking slow deep breaths Listen to your heart beat Imagine yourself in a calm, peaceful setting to help you relax and relieve stress. Be very still, listen, and enjoy the audio CD as it guides you to a relaxed feeling
