The California Gold Rush By : Nathan Wikol

The California gold began on the morning of January 24, 1848 at Sutters Mill.

In January 1848, James Wilson Marshall discovered gold while constructing a saw mill along the American River northeast of present-day Sacramento.

The early gold-seekers are called "forty-niners ( that's how the san Francisco forty- niners football team got their name)

The Gold Rush was one of the most significant events in California history. It brought people from all over the United States and the world in search for gold.

Soon after the gold rush started everybody in the world had gold fever and James Marshall had lost a lot of his workers

4 years after the discovery nearly 250,000 people had poured into the new sate The amount of gold found in the gold rush is still unknown because millions of people had gotten gold so there was no way to measure how much was taken
