The outsiders By Mason Daniel

`About The Outsiders Summary of the Outsiders Book Thee Erin: flickr "The Outsiders," written by 16-year-old author S.E. Hinton, was published in 1967. It was based on real events in Hinton's hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Disappointed with teen fiction at the time, she decided to tell the gritty story of a boy killed by police officers. That boy eventually became Dallas Winston, one of the central characters in "The Outsiders." The story is in many ways a retelling of "Romeo & Juliet," with a forbidden relationship between a boy and girl from rival factions, a friendship that puts one of them in danger.

Pony boy Pony Boy was Pony boy is a kid from the wrong side of the tracks (a greaser) who's parents were killed in a car accident. . He, his friends, Johnny, Dally, Two-Bit, and Steve, and brothers, Darry and Soda, are always getting beaten up by a gang called the socs. One night, he and his nervous best friend Johnny, are attacked by socs. The socs almost drown Ponyboy, and Johnny, defending Pony boy, stabs bob, one of the socs to death.

Dally The toughest hood in Ponyboy’s group of greasers. Dallas, known as “Dally,” is a hardened teen who used to run with gangs in New York. He has an elfin face and icy blue eyes and, unlike his friends, does not put grease in his white-blond hair. Dally’s violent tendencies make him more dangerous than the other greasers, and he takes pride in his criminal record. Dally feels protective of Johnny Cade.

Sodapop Curtis  Sodapop is Ponyboy’s happy-go-lucky, handsome brother. Sodapop is the middle Curtis boy. Ponyboy envies Sodapop’s good looks and charm. Sodapop plans to marry Sandy, a greaser girl

Two-Bit Matheewss The joker of Ponyboy’s group. Two-Bit, whose real name is Keith, is a wisecracking greaser who regularly shoplifts. He prizes his sleek black-handled switchblade. He instigates the hostilities between the Socs and the greasers by flirting with Marcia, the girlfriend of a Soc.
