Elderly people in our society should be people who are valued instead of mistreated.

What Type of elders get abused? Could start as early as age 60 Could be completely healthy Could be mentally/physically sick Could suffer from memory loss

Who abuses the elderly? Most examples are family related. Usually adult children. Could also be adult grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and stepchildren.

The most common types of abuse are.. Financial Mental harm Physical harm Threats Disrespect

Examples of abuse According to Mrs. Rose - 37 year old son Derek – Physical Mrs. Goffard - 21 year granddaughter Ivy - Financial Mr. Simon – 51 year old daughter Tasha – Neglect

How elders should be treated. Always with respect. Financial situations should always be handled properly. The family should always make sure an elder relative has a safe place to live.

What you can do to help Take the time to talk and listen to an elder who are related or unrelated to you. Show an interest in a hobby they might be interested in. Always pay attention to any abuse that could be going on in you're family.
