Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc1 DCS and DSS Cuvée 2015 – RUN2 Xavier Vilasís-Cardona
Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc2 DCS vs DSS DCS –Detector Control System –NON-RACK POWER SUPPLIES Low Voltage LV –VFEs –LED and HV boards Medium Voltage MV –AGILENT –Temperatures (PS and SPD) DSS –Detector SAFETY SYSTEM ‘If I go off, I cut the power’
Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc3 DCS – How to get there From the top detector DEN Click to go down into the ECAL DCS
Two types of power supplies involved LV – Marathon –They are the same type of the DAI Power Supplies –See Patrick’s talk for details –RCM’s + Power Supplies MV – For HV and TFC status bit –Agilents Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc4

Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc6 Important THE AGILENTS (MV) SHOULD NOT BE ON WHEN THE LOW VOLTAGE (LV) IS OFF or in ERROR In principle, this is protected by hardware and software, and the system logics but just check.

FSM logics protection A simple protection system is implemented in the FSM logics for some subsystems LV and MV switch on and off in the correct order. SPD VFE power on and off is also protected by FSM logics On PS and SPD when temperatures go to error, VFE power supplies are cut off Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc9

More on Temperatures Similar panels exist for SPD temperatures. See Joan presentation. SPD temperatures are the probe for VFE power supply problems. If all SPD temperatures from one side are in alarm, probably the VFE maraton is in trouble: call EXPERTs. SPD temperatures are read from SPECS –Only read if DAQ is configured PS temperatures are read from CAN bus –Read independently of DAQ Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc16
Monitoring on the Calo Screens A summary of the calo DCS information can be displayed on the control room Screens –HV_TOP (Anatoli) –PS Temperatures –SPD Temperatures We will also include information from the RACKS –Temperature on the racks –Status of the Power Supplies and Turbines –Rack Monitoring project Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc17

Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc20 DSS SAFETY SYSTEM –Runs in an independent system PLCs DON’T PANIC DSS essential behaviour –Some sensor goes wrong Smoke, temperature, cooling Ours or others… –Power is cut somewhere One side Somewhere else
DSS and the Calorimeter DSS can be triggered in the calorimeter by –Smoke or water in platform racks –Temperature too high in PS or SPD VFE Well above DCS alarms –PS and SPD VFE cooling system stop If cooling stops, the DSS alarm is not triggered immediately but a warning is sent (SMS) DSS cut off takes place 30 minutes later. Calorimeter Piquet should be warned The system can be shut down manually by ECS Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc21
Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc22 What to do if DSS goes off Don’t panic Say your favourite four letter word A DSS piquet should appear Find out where the current was cut off and why. If everything is ok for us –Follow the POWER CUT PROCEDURE
Two words on power cuts In case of power cut –Wait for control PCs to be ON –If the network is not stable FSMs and project switching on may be difficult. –Recall projects start automatically –Switch ON DAI first (if not centrally done) –Switch ON DCS from the top of CALO –Remember CALO_UI_fwSystemOverview.sh –Remember LBECSINFO_UI_FieldbusMonitor.sh Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc23
Calo Piquet Training Session - Xvc24 If sth was wrong… If DSS alarm was caused by some CALO problem –And it is not a fake alarm A sensor went mad Call EXPERTS
