WHO WAS MARY SHELLEY? She was born in England in Her parents were famous writers.

In 1813, when she was 16, Mary fell in love with a poet named Percy Shelley. Her father got angry and told Mary that she could not see Percy again.

Mary and Percy ran away together to a country called Switzerland.

Switzerland was romantic, but they had no money. So, they lived with a friend of Percy’s.

At night, the friends wrote and told ghost stories…

Mary’s didn’t want to write a ghost story. She wanted to write a story about a scientist who made a monster. Today that story is called ‘Frankenstein’. Mary wrote it when she was only 19 years old!
