Education Community Working With Imported Geometry Importing Parameters from CAD Models Overview  Many CAD packages have built-in FEA tools for preliminary design analysis purposes.  Depending on the combination of software being used, it is possible to import many parameters from the CAD analysis into the FEA simulation:  Loads and boundary conditions  Contact types  Meshing parameters and element types Section 1 Module 3 Page 1

Reuse and changes require a note indicating that content has been modified from the original, and must attribute source content to Autodesk. Education Community  It is highly efficient to not duplicate efforts by importing parameters already established by the CAD analysis.  Baseline CAD analysis results can avoid multiple design iterations within the FEA simulation. Working With Imported Geometry Importing Parameters from CAD Models Overview, continued Section 1 Module 3 Page 2 Yoke meshed and analyzed in Autodesk® Inventor®

Education Community Working With Imported Geometry Importing Parameters from CAD Models Loads and Boundary Conditions Section 1 Module 3 Page 3  Many load types available in Autodesk® Simulation Multiphysics are also available in CAD analysis packages, such as surface forces, surface pressures, and point loads.  Boundary conditions, such as fixed and sliding contacts are also present in CAD analysis packages.  All of the above can be set in the CAD package and later imported into Autodesk® Simulation Multiphysics for further analysis and refinement.
