Organic food sales in the united states reached $24.8 billion in 2008 sales according to the Organic Trade Association’s, 2010 Organic Industry Survey.

In 2009, 54 percent of total organic food sales were handled through mainstream grocers, club stores and retailers.

There is mounting evidence that organically grown fruits, vegetables and grains may offer more of some nutrients.

“certified Organic” means that the item has been grown accordingly to strict uniform standards that are verified by independent state or private organizations.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture regulates the claims to organic food farms and organic food.

Certified Organic products have been grown and handled accordingly to strict standards without toxic and persistent chemical inputs.

Organic food continues to gain market share, despite troubles in the economy as a whole.

The organic food industry in Canada is a $2 billion a year industry.

Canadian food inspection Agency is the (CFIA).

At one organic food was available only at food stores.

The (USDA) has created an Organic Food seal.

Some types of food that is more susceptible to pesticide residue are peaches, apples, sweet bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, pears, grapes, spinach, lettuce, and potatoes.

Organic food is labeled 100% organic and has no synthetic ingredients, and can legally use the USDA Organic seal.

According to the wall street Journal feeding young kids Organic food is much healthier and can reduce the risk of certain conditions along with diseases.

The word “Organic” refers to the way agricultural products are grown and produced.

Without the approval of the government you could be penalized anywhere from up to a minimum of $10,000 in fine, per each violation.

The government charges the farmers who produce the food a tax of just to see if there farm is safe to grow the crops.

The U.S. Organic industry grew 21% overall in 2006 with organic foods and beverages continuing to be one of the fastest growing segments in the overall $598 billion food market.

The academy of pediatrics believes organic food is a healthier way to live.
