Procedures for writing a vision statement

Managers will be able to write a vision statement for themselves and for their company.

Procedures for writing a vision statement Step 1 Evaluate sample vision statements previous to you writing one for your new project. There are many different vision statements, but looking at a number of examples could be of assistance when focusing in on a particular vision for your company. Managers will complete a web search of sample vision statements.

Procedures for writing a vision statement Step 2 Formulate a list of company's goals and principles as the first step in your vision statement process. It is important to know the goals and benchmarks you set for your business before you create an overall vision. Managers will write these goals on a dry erase board or distribute copies to everyone involved in the planning process to keep everyone on task.

Procedures for writing a vision statement How well do I understand the department's role in helping to meet the company's larger goals?

Procedures for writing a vision statement Can I summarize the group's mission in one sentence?

Procedures for writing a vision statement Can I articulate the kind of environment in which I want to work and share that vision with my team?

Procedures for writing a vision statement When necessary, am I willing to argue against my superiors to protect the integrity of our work, and will the organization allow such challenges?

Procedures for writing a vision statement How well can I identify the strengths and weaknesses of those with whom I work, and can I channel those strengths and weaknesses into positive tasks?

Procedures for writing a vision statement Am I willing to delegate assignments and provide the kind of information others need to complete these tasks well?

Procedures for writing a vision statement Am I willing to make mistakes, accept others' mistakes, and use these as opportunities for improvement?

Procedures for writing a vision statement What will the group's role still exist in two years, five years, and beyond?

Procedures for writing a vision statement Am I willing to empower others to make decisions and foster creative thinking?

Procedures for writing a vision statement Do I believe I can make a difference, no matter how small?
