 Jeremiah is commanded by the Lord to write the prophecies of doom against Judah in a scroll so that the people might repent - (36:1-3).  Baruch is told to write the words as Jeremiah dictates them - (36:4, 18).  Baruch told to go and read the book in the people’s hearing – (36:7-10) Don McClain 2 W. 65th St church of Christ / November 15, 2009

 Michaiah hears the reading of Baruch and tells the princes and nobles – ( 36:11-13).  The princes and nobles send for Baruch to hear the words of Jeremiah - (36:14-15).  They react with fear and insist that the king must hear these words – (36:16).  They tell Baruch and Jeremiah to go and hide - (36:19).  When Jehoiakim hears of the writing, he commands Jehudi to read it – (36:20-21).  After the reading of three or four columns, king Jehoiakim cuts up the scroll and throws it into the fire - (36:22-23).  A few men try to stop the king - (36:24).  The king then tries to arrest Baruch and Jeremiah but the Lord protects them - (36:26).
