3 3 CIG is intended to: Stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies in the agricultural community AND NRCS technical materials and programs. Address the States most pressing natural resource concerns.

4 4 State Resource Concerns: Energy Climate Change Soil Quality Water Quality Plant/Health Vigor Air Quality Wildlife Habitat Animal Health/management

Application of CIG projects in Oregon

TYPES OF PROJECTS Model on-farm energy program. Management and inventory techniques on late-seral forests in mid-seral stands. Develop farm planning and credit calculation for eco-market services. Floating wetland. Adaptation of the Nutrient Trading Tool (NTT) for Oregon to calculate edge of field reductions in nutrient, sediment, and pesticides from application of BMP’s. Rainwater Harvesting System. Market-based Incentive for Conservation of wildlife habitats. Evaluate and refine a set of soil quality assessments that will aid organic producers. Develop metrics for three priority habitats (oak woodland, bottom land hardwood forest, and Sagebrush) for use in outcome based payments for ecosystem service programs. Develop proven, practical, cost effective recommendations, tools and outreach materials to enable OR. nurseries to measure and reduce GHG emissions.

Are we hitting the mark?
