Fence Building Extravaganza

Mrs. Butler is building a chain link fence to keep out the deer that continually eat her tasty vegetables and beautiful flowers. There will be two sections in the enclosed yard. There will be a square garden and a rectangular play yard. The rectangular play yard is twice the size of the square garden.

These are the facts: The garden is a square. One side of the garden is 24 feet long. There are fence poles at every corner The remaining fence poles need to be placed at every 8 feet The play rectangle is twice the size of the garden square. 24 feet

Questions to Answer What is the perimeter of the square garden? What is the perimeter of the rectangular play yard? What is the perimeter of the entire yard? How much chain link fence is needed to enclose the entire yard? How many total poles will be needed? Don’t forget your corner poles.
