Presentation transcript:

‘Do the insurance companies and Federal Drug Administration have too much control over the specific medicines patients do and do not receive for their personal medical issues?’ I decided to create my own advertisement from scratch campaigning against the usage of tobacco products. ____________________________________________ Heather Murphy

Why I Chose This… _________________ My aunt suffers from a disease called Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She has frequent problems with her insurance.

Research ________________ The rate America spend on Health care is increasing by the year – estimated to be at nearly 4 trillion dollars by Drugs that are prescribed in America cost over almost half of what they do in other countries.

Research __________________ Nearly 50% of personal bankruptcies in America are because of medical/health expenses. In 2006 approximately 47 million Americans became uninsured.

Research ____________________ Over 75% of health care dollars are spent on Chronic conditions. Ex. Alzheimer's, Arthritis, Epilepsy, Cancer, and Multiple Sclerosis. Half of Chronic diseases are caused by or have to do with problems that can be prevented.

Obstacles _________________ Health Care and insurance is not an easy subject to get into, let alone understand. There are many different articles that contradict each other – making research touchy in some places.

Successes _________________ I had many different quotes I could use from many different points of views. I also had the input of my aunt and my family on the subject.

Link ____________________ I stayed in the realm of healthcare and medical issues, but focused on a more common (relatable) issue in America – the use of tobacco products. My aunt also began smoking herself at the age of 16, a few years before she was diagnosed.

What I Learned About Me ____________________________ I learned I am more of a solo-worker. I like things organized and I like everything to coordinate. I’m a bad procrastinator. I’m not very patient. At all. I can get it done – even if it’s the last minute.

Future … _______________________ This experience has pushed me further away from the medical field. I like the art of photography and it’s something I’m considering entering into. I like creativity and I like seeing the reaction of people when they take in something I’ve created.

Thank you for you time. Questions?
