12 Power Words Learn these words to help prepare you for end of grade tests!

Analyze Take apart or break down; break down into parts; look at closely; pick apart, think about.

COMPARE & CONTRAST Tell me what is alike or the same. Tell me what is different.

Describe Tell me about it; tell me everything through your 5 senses or the 5 Ws; Paint a picture with words to show you understand.

Evaluate See what you think and make a decision; make a judgment about; solve; tell me the good and the bad.

Formulate Create and come up with a plan to come up with; “Take and make”; design.
