Landfills Brian Cabacungan

Natural Resources Affected by Landfills The three common natural resources that are affected by landfills are water, air, soil and forest. Water is affected by landfills by the dirty things that are from it which contaminate water. Air is affected by landfills by the smelly smell of trash which pollutes the air. Soil is affected by landfills by the liquid of the trash and that liquid is called leachate and that goes down the ground and pollutes the soil which sometimes created by a bunch of trash. Forest are affected by landfills by forest loss, people cut down trees to make space for landfills because it is mostly in forests. The three common natural resources that are affected by landfills are water, air, soil and forest.

Natural Resources That is Not Affected by Landfills The natural resources that are not really affected by landfills are gas.

How People are Affected by Landfills Animals are affected by landfills because, it pollutes water and air that animal’s need, and when people make new landfills in the forests, they cut down the trees that animals live on. Also the living creatures that are really hungry goes to trash cans or somewhere they can find left over foods, and they eat the food that the animals see and they can get poisoned. Animals can get poisoned by food from trash because, sometimes the people who throw away trash puts chemicals on it, and that substance makes the animals go away, but it is possible that the animals don’t know there’s chemicals on the food, and they might just eat the poisonous food and die.

How animals are Affected by Landfills Landfills can also affect people. People are affected by landfills because, when the people who throw away trash puts chemicals on the waste that makes the animals go away, garbage workers pick trash from homes and they get chemicals on there clothes and body. Also people are affected by landfills because of the weather, like if it was really windy outside, trash would be flying around town and hitting people and breaking glass. Like in Naples, Italy, it was winter and there were lots of trash around the city streets and they had to cancel school.

Amount of Trash Put in Landfills every year from Do you know how many trashes are put in landfills every year? Can you see the graph? It never went down; it would always go up except for 1996 and 1997, it stood the same. So what do you think, you should start doing more R’s to help the environment. As days are passing, landfills are growing, find out ways to stop trash from growing and growing. Now you know what landfills can do to you, your pets and the environment. You don’t want to breathe polluted air or drink dirty water right. Worry about, the environment think what will happen to you and to other people in the future. Help the environment and find new ways to get rid of trash, but remember, trash never goes away.
