 Weathering occurs at a slower rate than erosion.  Erosion involves obvious motion when breaking down rock

 Cause by water freezing  Common in high elevations and mid latitudes (Michigan)

 Removing overburden relieves pressure  Occurs mainly in intrusive igneous rocks ◦ batholiths
