When a car travels to North Shore does it change size?

Translation – Movement of an object a fixed distance in a given direction with the same orientation; images of a translation are congruent (same shape and size) Some days I need a translation with my wife. This is talking about math not language. The arrow has translated (moved) to the right and down

Can you explain what is a translation? It is just a movement in one direction.

Draw a polygon with three points A B C Explain how you would do that. Move each point on the figure horizontally positive 5 and vertically negative 2.

Add 5 to the “x” and subtract 2 from the “y” in each coordinated pair The new point is call a “prime” of the original A B C A’ B’ C’ That is right, our points are “A prime”, “B prime” and “C prime”. A’ This mark denotes “prime”.

The next new point is call a “ double prime” A B C A’ B’ C’ A” This mark denotes “ double prime”. A” B” C”

Exit Questions What is a translation? A movement of an object a fixed distance How do you denote the rules of a translation? The “x” & “y” values of an ordered paired are added or subtracted a certain amount. Why do you call the new point “prime”? To distinguish the new image from the original figure
