Legislative Branch Vocabulary! 1) Legislative Branch of government that makes laws 2) Bicameral Legislative branch divided into 2 parts with equal power

Legislative Branch Vocabulary! 3) House of Representatives Part of US Congress; has 435 members; The number of representatives in each state is determined by the state’s population. Members serve 2 year term. EX: Washington State gets 10 4) Senate Also part of US Congress; has 100 members (2 from each state); Elected for 6 year term. *VP serves as president of the Senate (only votes if there is a tie)

Legislative Branch Vocabulary! 5) Speaker of the House Person who is the leader of the House of Representatives. Sends proposed laws to committees and assigns people to special committees. Also schedule debates and votes in the case of tie. EX: 1 st -Henry Clay of Kentucky 6) Whip A person in the legislature whose job is to ensure party members turn up for important votes.
