Objectives 1.00 – 3.00 EOC INFO VERY VERY IMPORTANT READ and REMEMBER

Parliamentary Procedure Principles & Purposes –Majority of votes rule –The minority has the right to express their opinions –Justice and courtesy for all on the meeting –One item is considered at a time –Maintain order at all times during the meeting –Business is transacted as quickly as possible

Item of Business –A single matter to be discussed by an organization Committee –People delegated to study, investigate, make recommendations, and report on certain matters

Main motion –To present an item of business for consideration and action by the assembly Amend –To change a main motion in some way, by adding, subtracting and changing words of it. Question of privilege –To ask a question or call attention to the assembly of an important issue during the meeting Standing –A committee which usually serves for a one year period to plan activities that fall within a certain subject matter.

Short Term Goals –Goal that is obtainable in a short period of time Long Term Goal –Goal that has existed over an long period of time Self Assessment –Profile of your talents, interests, abilities, aptitudes, and experiences Planning Goals –The small steps you must take to get from where you are now to where you want to be

Effective Goals –Stated in clear terms –Realistic and believable –Attainable –Measurable –Desirable

Indicators of Possible Career Paths –Values –Aptitudes –Skills –Interests –Hobbies –Work

Drafting Careers –Manufacturing –Electrical –Transportation –Fabrication –Construction –Architecture –Public Utilities –State & Local Government –Armed Services –Colleges & Universities

Identify long term goals Set short term goals to always have a challenge Develop a career plan so you know what you are going to do Update information from earlier career plans Have a career Portfolio

Career Cluster –Careers that have some things in common The best way to learn about a career is by working on it The more careers you are aware of, the better your chances of finding a job that is right for you

Search in the internet, WebPages like monster. com Look magazines’ ads Friends and Family recommendations Talk to school counselors and teachers Private employment agencies Newspaper advertisements in the Want ads section

Sketching –Quickly and easily get an idea on paper Design sketches Make freehand technical sketches Create technical illustrations

You only need: –Pencil –Paper Optional materials are: –Eraser –Grid paper

SINGLE-VIEW –Only front view MULTI-VIEW PICTORIALS

Front view Top View Side View

They quickly communicate an idea Three dimensions in one view –Width –Height –Depth 3 Types of pictorial sketches –Isometric –Oblique –Perspective

Three equally spaced axes of 120 ° Receding lines –Typically 30° off horizontal Circles appear as ellipses

Front view is drawn true shape and size Receding edges are usually drawn at an angle of 30°, 45°, or 60° Circles and curves drawn on frontal plane will appear true shape and size

In pictorial sketches: –Objects appear as the eye would see them –Most realistic type of pictorial sketch –Most difficult pictorial sketch to draw

There are two types of perspective sketches: –One point perspective: One vanishing point –Two point perspective: Two vanishing points

Equipment: –Drawing board –T-square –Parallel edge –Drafting Machine Arm/elbow type Track type

45 ° Triangle –Draw vertical lines and lines at 45 ° 30 ° x 60 ° Triangle –Draw vertical lines and lines at 30 ° and 60 ° Adjustable Triangle –Draw lines at 0 ° to 90 °

Compass –Draw circles and arcs Protractor –Measure and layout angles Templates –Drawing repetitive features Types of scales: –Engineer (Civil) –Mechanical drafter –Metric –Architecture

The most important reason for using lettering is to convey information without misunderstanding It also adds to the overall appearance of the drawing Space between words should equal the approximate width of the letter “O”

Hidden Lines: –They are thin dashed lines used to indicate a surface, edge, or contour of an object that cannot be seen, or is hidden from view.

Visible Object Lines –They are thick dark solid lines that are used on drawings to indicate the edges and details of an object.

Construction lines –Thin and light –.020” (0.5mm) –Hard lead (4H) Visible lines –Thick and dark –.028” (0.7mm) –Softer lead (F or HB) Hidden lines –Thin and dark –.020” (0.5mm) –Softer lead (F or HB) –.125” (3mm) long dashes w/.030” (1mm) spaces in between

Dimension, Extension, Leader Lines –Thin and dark –.020” (0.5mm) –Softer lead (F or HB) Center Lines –Thin and dark –.020” (3mm) –Softer lead (F or HB) –.125” (0.5mm) dash in center w/.030” (0.1mm) spaces between longer lines
