How DO I Decide?

There are 2 types of decisions: 1.Routine decision- The type of decision you make everyday without much thought (getting up in the morning) 2.Planned - You use more time and energy to make the best choice. (Deciding what college to attend or making a big purchase)

Developing your decision- making skills can help you as you try to reach your goals, overcome obstacles and try to solve problems.

So when you have to MAKE A DECISION, how do you go about doing that? What factors INFLUENCE your decisions?

MATURITY As you get older, your thinking skills develop. You can reason, predict an outcome or make conclusions. With MORE MATURITY we tend to make BETTER choices.

VALUES Values are your ideals and beliefs that are important to you Knowing your values can help you make decisions. Some values might be more important than others

RESOURCES A resource is anything available to help you carry out your decisions

HUMAN Resources Your strength Your energy Your creativity Your knowledge Your skills: reading, writing & prob. Solving Character strength Abilities: being able to cook, type, care for kids

OTHER HUMAN Resources Parents Sibling Grandparents Friends Teachers ANY person that can help you carry out a part of your decision.

NON-HUMAN Resources Money Possessions Community Information Time

In order to manage resources we need to PLAN because resources are LIMITED!
