The Ohio Program Office of International Programs in Agriculture OHIO FACTS & FIGURES With over 50% (53,000 km²) of Ohio being prime farmland the state of Ohio continues to have a strong agricultural (and horticultural) tradition.  Agriculture is the biggest industry in Ohio (contributing $67 billion to Ohio’s budget)  Within in the U.S. Ohio is ranked 1 st in egg production, 2 nd in tomato processing, 3 rd in pig production and 4 th in soybeans, sweet corn and cucumbers  Ohio is ranked as the 5 th largest producer of floriculture crops in the world  Ohio has a small but emerging wine industry
