Syria Censorship in the Country By: David Boukengolts & Ian Smith

The Country The leader of the country, Syria, is Bashar al-Assad. He ruled over after his father died, Hafez Assad. Syria is located in Asia, near the Mediterranean Sea.

What Is Censored and Why ●Syrians are censoring any type of Media Coverage. ●They have banned the use of any mobile phones, electricity, landlines and the Internet. ●Many journalists have been killed in the past few years, probably because Syria does not want any information escaping into other countries. We do not know why they are censoring journalists, no information can be found on the topic. ●The first journalist, Ferzat Sarbaru, was killed because he documented the deaths of people. Perhaps, the Syrians did not want people to find out what they were doing.

Connection to Fahrenheit 451 Censorship is major in this country, like books were in Fahrenheit 451, but books are not censored as much, only Internet and Journalists. Many Journalists have been killed, due to because they were not allowed to take information and spread the news to the world. This is similar to Fahrenheit 451 because the old woman was willing to die for her books.
