Executive Branch The 2003 Legislature created a new Children’s Mental Health Bureau within the Department of Public Health and Human Services with the intent of elevating the importance of youth with mental health needs and separating them from the adult system.

The Youth Services Division The Department of Corrections has three Bureaus: Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility Riverside Youth Correctional Facility Youth Community Corrections Bureau

Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility 120 Beds located in Miles City. Ages 10 through 17, has its own school district. Residential sex offender and chemical dependency programs Provide a more rehabilitative environment and better protect the public.

Riverside Youth Correctional Facility 20-bed secure custody facility for females. Ages 10 through 17 Has its own school district. Includes treatment programs of Restorative Justice.

Youth Community Corrections Bureau Includes 12 Parole Officers throughout the state of Montana working in five regions and two Youth Reentry Aftercare Coordinators This bureau, in conjunction with the other two bureaus, operates the youth reintegration initiative. Through initiative, having developed "guide homes" incorporations, community mentors and enhances services for a religious upbringing.
