ABRAHAM I.BACKGROUND INFO II.God Calls Abram – The ____________ A.The _______________– Acts 7:2-5 – To this he replied: "Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran. 3 'Leave your country and your people,' God said, 'and go to the land I will show you.' 4 "So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living. B.The _______________– Genesis 12:1-3 – The Lord had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you. 2 "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

ABRAHAM C.God’s Call to ___ 1._______he called them a.Abraham b.Us i.Hebrews 1:1-2 – In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son  How has he revealed himself to us? 2 Cor 4:6-7 – For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ii.2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

ABRAHAM C.God’s Call to ___ 2._____he called – a.Abraham –Isaiah 51:2 – Look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was but one, and I blessed him and made him many. b.Us – 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 – Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.

ABRAHAM C.God’s Call to _____ 1._______ he Called – The Calling _______ of Idolatry a.Abraham i. Joshua 24:2 – Joshua said to all the people, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Long ago your forefathers, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the River and worshiped other god b.Us i.Because of___________________________________________  Rom 16:17-18 – I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.  Col 1:13 – For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves ii.Because he Loves ALL –  John 3:16 – For God so loved the world he gave his only special Son  1 Tim 2:3-5 – This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.  2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

ABRAHAM III.God Calls Abram – The _______________ A.Genesis 12:4-9 – So Abram left, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran. 5 He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there. 6 Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 The Lord appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him. 8 From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord. 9 Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.

ABRAHAM 1.Abraham – a.He left what was Comfortable b.He left what was easy c.He left what he knew d.God Blessed him 2.Us – a.Our Decision – i.Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is immersed shall be saved” ii.Acts 2:38 “Repent and be immersed in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of Sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit iii.Luke 11:23 – "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters.” b.God says “GO i.Matthew 28:18-20 “Go into all the world making decision, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit teaching them to obey all things I have commanded you…” ii.Hebrews 11:8-10 – By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9 By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.

ABRAHAM IV.God Calls Abram – The CHALLENGE – Genesis 12:14-20 – When Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that she was a very beautiful woman. 15 And when Pharaoh's officials saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into his palace. 16 He treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, menservants and maidservants, and camels. 17 But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife Sarai. 18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram. "What have you done to me?" he said. "Why didn't you tell me she was your wife? 19 Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!" 20 Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.
