May 19 ~Ho Chi Minh was born

He grew up in Kim Lien Village in Vietnam

At the age of ten he had a name change from Nguyen Tat Thanh to Ho Chi Minh

Ho lived in the Harlem part of New York and in Boston. There he worked as a baker at the Parker House Hotel.

He lived in different parts of London, such as West Ealing, west London, and later in CrouchEnd, Hornsey, north London.

Ho told people that he arrived in Paris from London, but Frenchpolice only have documents in June of 1919.

He worked in some small jobs and claimed that he was working for a wealthy family in Brooklyn. Also, it was said that while he was in the U.S. he made a contract with Korean nationalists, an experience that developed his political outlook.

Ho petitioned President Woodrow Wilson for help to remove the French from Vietnam and to replace it with a new, nationalist government, but the request was ignored.

Ho traveled to Guangzhou, China to act as an interpreter for a Soviet mission sent to assist Chiang Kai-shek, but while in the region Ho contacts Vietnamese exiles.

Ho organized ‘Youth Education Classes’ and he sometimes gave lectures at the Whampoa Military Academy on the revolutionary. He stayed in Hong Kong as a representative of the Communist International.

He stayed in the Thai village of Nachok. He spent some years as a Buddhist Monk in Northeast Thailand.

June ~Ho was arrested and incarcerated by British police until his release in Then he went back to the Soviet Union, and there he had to recover from tuberculosis.

Returned to China and served as an adviser with Chinese Communist armed forces.

Ho was released and he again returned to Vietnam. He was treated for malaria and dysentery by American OSS doctors.

Then Viet Minh killed members of the rival groups, such as the leader of the Constitutional Party, the head of the Party for Independence, and Ngo Dinh Diem’s brother, Ngo Dnh Khoi.

Ho became chairman of the Provisional Government. September ~Ho arranged for the Communist Party to be dissolved and to hold an election to yield a coalition government. September 2 ~Ho reads the Declaration of Independence of Vietnam under the name of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

He returned to Vietnam in 1941 to lead the Viet Minh independence movement, which was successful.

March 6 ~He signs an agreement with France

February ~Ho meets with Stalin and Mao in Moscow after the Soviets recognized his government.

After Ho escalated a fight with France then in 1954, France was forced to give up Indochina

Ho becomes president of Vietnam.

September 2 ~Ho Chi Minh died in the morning at his home in Hanoi at 9 from heart failure.

He was considered to be a murderer and a traitor who ruined Vietnam by starting a war. Saigon is renamed as ‘Ho Chi Minh City’
