 Groups of 3-5 students  Only 1 person submits  All names (in the comment box)  Don’t be late for discussion

 In groups of 2  Change your partner each time  Mostly multiple choice  You both submit simultaneously

 Due one week after class (except proposal)  Groups of 2 students  Only 1 student submits  Both names in the comment box  READ the justifications

 2 parts (summary, critique)  You may have done this in other courses  Read the rubric and online evaluation form  Focus on critique not on summary  Focus on methodology and procedure.

1. Identify parts of research 2. Selecting a topic 3. Pre-proposal 4. Article Presentation 5. Article Critique 6. Conferences 7. Proposal Peer Evaluation 8. Final Proposal

 Similar to quizzes  Midterm (chapters 1-7, 16)  Final (chapters 8-15)  Individually

 Don’t include your story of ERIC search in the final proposal.  You may include a mini review in pre-proposal to get feedback.  Don’t try to be persuasive or advocating something. I want people to hear the voice of…  Avoid searching for the obvious. We already know Technology, learning services, summer bridge, parental involvement, counseling, works. Ask something we don’t know.

 General topic might be important but you should show why your specific topic is important. Autism is important but why do we need to research their siblings.

 Don’t use the format or criteria used or suggested in another course. For example, in literature review some have 4 parts: purpose, process, synthesis, and conclusion. I don’t ask for the purpose and process.  Do not use your papers from other courses. They are not appropriate for research proposal. They are provocative, persuasive, qualitative, subjective. It is hard to do empirical research on social justice, social gaps, minority issues, ethnographic studies…etc.

Learn how to search for experimental research journals.

 Research Proposal
