What is CELDT? California English Language Development Test
Why do I have to take the CEDLT? State and Federal law require schools to assess (test) the English proficiency of students whose primary (first) language is not English.
Students from kindergarten to 12th grade take the CELDT.
The CELDT has 4 parts: Listening Speaking Reading Writing
CELDT Levels Beginning- 1 Early Intermediate- 2 Intermediate- 3 Early Advanced- 4 Advanced- 5
How often do I have to take the CELDT? The CELDT is administered (given) once a year until you are reclassified.
How do I get reclassified? Overall level of 4 or 5 on the CELDT with subtest scores of 3 or higher BRI Reading Assessment Writing Benchmark Grades of C or better in math, English, history, and science
Why am I in ELD? ELD (English Language Development) is for students at an overall level 3 on the CELDT. The first month of class will focus on preparing you for the CELDT
