I. Reading Strategy: Skimming Skimming is a reading strategy to find out the main idea(s) of an article or any other type of reading material. When skimming, you should always read an article or a piece of information quickly, without studying it in detail, in order to get the main point(s). 

Skim the reading and choose the best answer to the following question. Exercise: Skim the reading and choose the best answer to the following question. ( ) What is the main idea of the reading? II. Reading Strategy: Scanning Scanning is a reading strategy to help you skip unimportant words and pay attention to the information you are looking for. When scanning, you should first have a question in mind and then scan the passage for the answer.  
