The CSAVR-IRS Connection Presented by Christina Navarrete-Wasson Acting Director, W&I Human Capital Office, IRS

Special Thanks Kathy West-CSAVR Business Program Director National Employment Team – NET for distribution of vacancy announcements The hard working field counselors who respond promptly to our resume requests

The Connection History Began in 2007 with CSAVR and AO Set up to obtain Schedule A resumes using the NETs 80+ Points of Contact AO was the first IRS office to establish a nationwide recruitment effort AO has worked with other IRS partners to expand recruitment efforts.

Benefits Finding employment for persons with disabilities Employers are meeting hiring mandated by Executive Order An effective nationwide disability network Resumes are obtained in days – not weeks

Benefits Streamlined, Direct contact between management, AO and VR VR supplies immediate support for training needs and accommodations VR also provides VET program applicants AO provides post recruitment assistance

Successes Since 2008 – AO has received over 230 requests for resumes VR has provided nearly 700 Schedule A resumes IRS has hired 90 applicants This has occurred with hiring freezes in place since 2010

Successes Pilot program implemented in FY-2012 to pre-identify candidates for seasonal hiring in campus sites –17 Candidates identified –9 hired in GS-4 temporary/seasonal positions –6 permanently hired and promoted to GS-6 positions
