CGC All you ever wanted to know about the electricity crisis

3 Major issues to discuss What is the nature of the crisis and how long can we expect to endure it? What will be the major impact of the crisis? What opportunities does the crisis present?

System Status Terms

Balancing Supply & Demand

The Load Reduction Process

About Load Shedding

So what can be worse than load shedding?

Electricity Price Path

Tariff Determination Basics

So what do these 2 impacts mean? Fundamentally altered how organisations and consumers are planning for energy security; Massive increases in electricity pricing has meant more and disposable income is going toward electricity or resulting in non payment; Electricity prices are now more expensive that self generation options As demand falls away through increasing self generation prices have to rise further meaning more demand decline;

Consumers Become Energy Producers T & D Becomes More Controllable and Resilient Generation Becomes More Flexible Loads Become More Interactive and Dynamic Consequence is a fundamentally different energy system

What’s in it for me? The crisis is very different from 2008 – this is a much longer term issue You can’t have a digital strategy without including energy security strategy You need to consider the impact of lack of electricity will have on consumer’s access to platforms and how pricing for electricity will have on incomes Time is here to drive the transition to a renewable energy future.
