Distinct and Interrelated Roles

…the laity, dedicated as they are to Christ and anointed by the Holy Spirit, are marvelously called and prepared so that ever richer fruits of the Spirit may be produced in them. For all their works, if accomplished in the Spirit, become spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ: their prayers and apostolic undertakings, family and married life, daily work, relaxation of mind and body, even the hardship of life if patiently borne. In the celebration of the Eucharist, these are offered to the Father in all piety along with the Body of the Lord. And so, worshipping everywhere by their holy actions, the laity consecrate the world itself to God. Lumen Gentium, 34 (emphasis added)

Priest: Lord, was away my iniquity, and cleanse me of my sins.

P: Pray, brethren, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father. C: May the Lord receive the sacrifice from your hands, for the praise and glory of His name, for our good and the good of all the Church.

P: (Father,) (Lord,) (Lord of mercy,)…….. In your love accept these gifts. May they bring us your saving power. C: Amen.
