Challenges: Health Workforce in Indonesia Mismatch between supply and placement of health workers. Specialist doctors rare in district hospitals & in areas with less financial capacity. How to improve the competence of GPs (many in rural areas cannot pass the fellowship examinations). Salaries for doctors. Capacity in policy development and administration at provincial level. Faculty of Health Sciences

Plan of Action: Health Workforce in Indonesia Improved co-ordination among MoH & Provincial & District Health Offices to: 1.Address maldistribution of doctors in Districts; improve incentives for doctors who want to work in district areas. 2.Improve competency of doctors; especially specialty programs, e.g. conduct of caesarians, minor surgery, radiology (e.g. diagnosis of TB) and anaesthetics.
