A Non-partisan, Christian citizens’ movement  Purpose: "to urge our nation's decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad.”  Early 1970’s Catholics and Protestants and Rev. Arthur Simon  1974: New York, 500 members  Today: 58,000 members nationwide, 3000 churches  Affiliates: Bread for the World Institute

 850 million people in the world go hungry  Developing countries- 6 million children die each year  U.S. – 12.4 million children in households that skip meals  1/10 households in the U.S. live with hunger
