What is soil?.
What on Earth is Soil?.
Since animals require the special habitats for survival, the destruction or modification of habitats lead to the loss of shelters and food sources.

Soil Conservation. How do we use the land to change the land? Mining – rocks and minerals are removed from the ground for profit by one of two methods:

Soil Conservation. Soil conservation means protecting soils from erosion and nutrient loss. Soil conservation can help to keep soils fertile and healthy.

Presentation transcript:

Trees protect the earth’s surface because…

they act as a shield against the wind

Trees protect the earth’s surface because… their roots hold the soil in place even if there is a great deal of rain

Roots help the earth’s surface because they help hold the soil and protect against gravity.

Earthworms, ants and other small other animals help the soil because…

they make tiny tunnels that allow water and air to mix into the soil they leave waste which adds nutrients to the soil

Two ways people can cause erosion are by building roads and farming.

Two ways people prevent erosion are… 1. Wind Fences

2. Terrace Farming
