Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:18-21 (ESV)

Q: What is Sin? A: Missing the "norm" of God's laws, in any detail *Sin of "omission": failure to do what God commands *Sin of "commission": do something forbidden by God

Q: Why is Sin a Problem? A: It offends the holy nature of our Creator, and makes us God's enemies. The problem is with our nature, not our environment “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” Romans 3: 10-12

Q: What Can We Do About this Crisis? A: ______________________________

Q: What Did Jesus Do About It? A: He gave His life as a ransom to "buy" our salvation Acts 4: 11-12: This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” 1 Tim 2: 5-6: For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.

Q: So What is Our Responsibility? A: Repent of all sin. Trust Christ's sacrifice as our payment to God.

Q: What Do I Get if I Do This? A: Total Forgiveness and Eternal Life with Jesus. Merry Christmas !!
