President’s Forum Aims of the Forum Objectives for the Forum: Determine “a better approach” for the planning system; “test” positions that may be adopted by the LGA relevant to the Bill;..continued..

President’s Forum Other areas for amendment to the Development Act, not currently included in the Government’s Bill; and Non-legislative system improvements to enhance the planning system.

President’s Forum Proposals on the Bill suggest that Local Government either: support the relevant provision in the Bill; or support the general intent but propose amendments; or not support the provision; or request further information; or promote a way forward – “a better direction”.

President’s Forum Context LGA supports the continuous improvement of the planning system so that it: continues to be efficient and effective; delivers quality decisions within a clear policy framework Enhances the quality of life of the South Australian community.

President’s Forum The Bill has been prepared without: a formal review of the planning system; consideration of the substantial role Councils provide to support the planning system; statistical evidence; availability being made to Councils on the proposed templates/modules; …continued…

President’s Forum content of the proposed regulations; attention to non-legislative matters; consultation on state Strategic Plan; regard to social, environmental and economic planning, emphasis is on infrastructure; regard for the resourcing of proposals in the Bill.
