Assessing SMART Goals

Save $100 for a day trip to Dallas during spring break. (No) Specific- Where will you go during the day trip to Dallas? (Yes) Measurable (Yes) Attainable (Yes) Realistic (No) Time-bound- By what date do you want to have $100 saved? New goal- Save $100 for a day trip to the Dallas Zoo during spring break by April 1st.

Save money for a gift. (No) Specific- Who is the gift for? When will the gift be given? (No) Measurable- How much do you want to save for a gift? (No) Attainable- Is the value attainable? (No) Realistic- Is the gift and/or value realistic? (No) Time-bound- By what date do you want to have the value saved? New goal-Save $15 a week for the next month to buy my brother a video game for his birthday.
