 Definition- A method of teaching, learning and reflecting that combines classroom curriculum with meaningful service throughout the community.  It integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach responsibility and strengthen communities for the common good.

 Connect academic subjects to the real world  Increase motivation and desire to learn  Help the community  Grow as leaders, decision makers and problem solvers  Develop as active members of society  Gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.

 Mission Trips (New Orleans and Haiti)  Helping the Homeless in Atlanta  Special Needs Events (Special Olympics, Special Needs Christmas Parties, etc)  Animal Shelter  Hospital  Relay for Life

 Service-learning has had a major impact on who I am today. Without service learning, I probably would be a whole different person. I think that everyone should do some type of community service on a regular basis. It makes you open your eyes and realize how lucky you are and how others are less fortunate. It also makes you feel so much better about yourself when you are making a positive difference in someone’s life.
