Unit 66: 3D Modelling

Criteria1:Understanding the theory and Applications of 3D

Application of 3D Models can be made using 3D applications 3D Applications can be hardware and software They represent three dimensional objects

We represent any object as a 3D model

Product Design 3d models can be designed to represent new or existing product. Product Designers can create a wide range of products. Once the model has been made it is easy to change its appearance.

Product Design Industrial Furniture

Product Design Consumer products Transport

Product Design Car Design

Product Design Consumer Products Consumer Products 2 CATIA

Animation Not only can object be created they can be made to move or animated. We can moved around 3d models to see them from every angle Using a virtual camera. Or they can be made to move be animating different elements of the model

Animation Simulated car impactEngineering animated parts

Animation Virtual camera animation

Tasks Collect an example of the following 3d applications TV Advert Iphone Game A completely 3D Feature Film In Powerpoint add link to video and screen shot

Tasks 1.Select a 3D game you have recently played and add some screen shots showing a variety of models indicate the different models. 2.Select a TV programme that uses 3d computer models that you have recently watched (other than the one in the PowerPoint) and add a link to video and screenshot. Find evidence that it uses 3D computer models.

Tasks 1.Find another application of 3d computer graphics and explain what it is used for? 2.Illustrate with suitable images or add video link. 3.Find an architectural flythrough of a real building using 3d computer graphics and include a real photograph of the architecture and compare.
