Learning Objectives Learn some words for describing someone’s appearance and style. Identify whether a word is masculine or feminine, and use le/la or un/une correctly with it.

LE / LA  THE UN / UNE  A DES  SOME Think carefully about which one you want to say!

Task 1 Find as many words for different clothes as you can, and write the French and English in the LES VÊTEMENTS box on your sheet. DO NOT write le/la before the words. Instead, use 2 different colours to show which are masculine and which are feminine. Lesson 1

Some things that won’t be in the dictionary: Hoodie – sweat à capuche Leggings – caleçon / legging Vest top – débardeur Cardigan – gilet Top – haut Flip flop – tong High heels - chaussures talons hauts Lesson 1

GAME Lesson 1

COLOURS MATCHING Add some kind of game to recap colours here – I used one on Linguascope5

Task 2 Fill in the LES COULEURS box with different colours in French. Colours are adjectives, and some adjectives change if describing a feminine word. Make sure you write down the masculine AND feminine forms of the words. Lesson 1 9

Task 3 Le Tissu describes what clothes are made from. Use a dictionary to help you match up the French and English and write them in the box. leather cotton plastic polyester linen velvet nylon silk denim wool fleece waterproof fabric Lesson 1 en soie en cuir en velours en laine en nylon en lin en coton en polyester en plastique en jean en laine polaire en tissu imperméable 10

Le look Find some more ways to describe someone’s style that make sense at the end of the sentence “he/she dresses like a...” e.g. like a granny like a pirate like a gangster Lesson 1 11

Task 4 Find some adjectives for describing someone’s style or an item of clothing, e.g. sporty, scruffy, old-fashioned. Make sure you write down the masculine AND feminine forms If you’re stuck for ideas, think of some celebrities and imagine how you’d describe their style. 12
