A Bad Design: Dormitory Showers

What’s the Problem? Water pressure is inconsistent Stalls are small and cramped Shower heads are much too low for the average student These issues cause the showers to be ineffective and inefficient

Issues that arise Students spend more time in the shower Less time is spent on studies Restricted space makes cleaning hard to reach areas difficult

The Solution: More effective water allotment and similar shower heads to ensure equal water pressures Expand the shower area in the stalls – area with bench and hook does not need to be so big Raise the shower head

Other Possible Solutions: Provide sponge bathing for all students Invest in shower heads that rotate more and can aim higher Reduce number of shower stalls and make fewer, bigger stalls

Existing Solutions: Hundreds of designs and accessories have been created to make the showering experience more efficient and enjoyable Benches and/or seats in the shower High pressure shower heads Water saving shower heads Detachable shower heads
