Nazi Genocide: The Holocaust in Europe
Why did the world feel it was necessary to create a Jewish homeland?
Presentation transcript:

Meanwhile the Zionists formed the Haganah, a military force to protect the Jews of Palestine from the Arab’s attacks. Even when the full scope of the holocaust was known and thousands of survivors were stranded in displaced person camps, the British refused to allow them entrance. In 1947 the royal navy intercepted the Jewish refuge ship Exodus, and sent the passengers back to Germany.

The Balfour Declaration

THE WHITE PAPER The Arabs protested the immigration of Jews into Palestine and the British did not stick to their promise. During the 5 th Aliyah, when many Jews were escaping the Nazis and the lands of the Holocaust, the British issued the “White Paper” deciding to limit the amount of Jews allowed to immigrate to Israel to 75,000 in a period of 5 years. The White Paper specifically stated that the British would not let Palestine become a Jewish state. With doors to Palestine closed, hundreds of thousands of Jews were condemned to die in Nazi camps.

We rule Israel as the British!
