Lesson 3 Mantras 1- 3

Relation to invocation The living entities can again regain their sense of completeness by acting in relationship with Krsna. This action is called isavasya consciousness. The living entities can again regain their sense of completeness by acting in relationship with Krsna. This action is called isavasya consciousness. How to do that? How to do that?......

Mantra 1 éçäväsyam idam sarvaà yat kiïca jagatyäà jagat yat kiïca jagatyäà jagat tena tyaktena bhuïjéthä tena tyaktena bhuïjéthä mä gådhaù kasya svid dhanam mä gådhaù kasya svid dhanam

Everything animate or inanimate that is within the universe is controlled and owned by the Lord. One should therefore accept only those things necessary for himself, which are set aside as his quota, and one should not accept other things, knowing well to whom they belong.

Our Quota is Given to Serve the Lord Our Future is Black if We Simply Horde

Éçäväsya éça – by the Lord äväsyam – owned and controlled

Everything Animate & Inanimate… parä prakåti Spiritual Energy Animate aparä prakåti Material Energy Inanimate

“There is nothing in the universe that does not belong to either the parä or the aparä prakåti; therefore everything is the property of the Supreme Being.” Mantra 1 Purport

What is sin? “ The root of sin is deliberate disobedience to the laws of nature through disregarding the proprietorship of the Lord.” Mantra 1 Purport

Bhägavata Communism… “As the communists, they say, “Everything belongs to the state,” we say “Everything belongs to God.” We never say that anything belongs to anyone. No. This is Bhägavata communism. So everything belongs to God.” Bhagavad - gétä 1.15, London, July 15, 1973

Perfect Kåñëa consciousness So we should not take anything neglectfully. Neither we should be careless to take care of Kåñëa’s property, Kåñëa’s living being, Kåñëa’s house, Kåñëa’s temple, Kåñëa’s business…

Perfect Kåñëa consciousness … Kåñëa’s... Everything Kåñëa’s. Éçäväsyam idaà sarvaà yat kiïca jagatyäà jagat. If we think like that, then that is perfect Kåñëa consciousness. Çrémad-Bhägavatam Våndävana, August 3, 1974

tena tyaktena bhuïjéthä tena—by Him tyaktena—set-apart quota bhuïjéthäù—you should accept One should therefore accept only those things necessary for himself, which are set aside as his quota…

Not more than what we require.. “Whatever wealth is there within this universe, all belong to God, and we are, as sons of God, we have got right to take advantage of this wealth, but not more than what I require. That’s all. This is spiritual communism. If you take more, then you become punishable. This is the law of nature.” Bhagavad - gétä 1.15, London, July 15, 1973

Not more than what we require.. How to decide what we “require” ? Does this change during our life? Is it different for different people?

Mantra one tells us what to do; mantra two tells us how to do it and expands the why Mantra one tells us what to do; mantra two tells us how to do it and expands the why

One may aspire to live for hundreds of years if he continuously goes on working in that way, for that sort of work will not bind him to the law of karma. There is no alternative to this way for man. Mantra 2

Freedom and Bliss The benefit of working in the isavasya conception: one becomes free from karmic reaction and acts on the liberated platform. Such activities are the only method for freedom. The benefit of working in the isavasya conception: one becomes free from karmic reaction and acts on the liberated platform. Such activities are the only method for freedom. By controlling our will materially, we have full freedom to exercise our will spiritually. By controlling our will materially, we have full freedom to exercise our will spiritually.

Ways of Working Karma with results offered to Krishna Karma with results offered to Krishna Akarma simply to please Krishna Akarma simply to please Krishna Vikarma must be avoided Vikarma must be avoided

“There is no harm in becoming a family man, or an altruist, a socialist, a communist, a nationalist or a humanitarian, provided that one executes his activities in relation with éçäväsya, the God- centered conception.” Mantra 2 Purport

“Çré Éçopaniñad advises us to exert our energy in the spirit of éçäväsya. Being so engaged, we may wish to live for many, many years..” Mantra 2 Purport

If one does a small amount of Krishna conscious activity (eg take prasad) one can be guaranteed a human birth If one does a small amount of Krishna conscious activity (eg take prasad) one can be guaranteed a human birth

The killer of the soul, whoever he may be, must enter into the planets known as the worlds of the faithless, full of darkness and ignorance. Mantra 3

Why not vikarma? Then again become animals or like animals Animals are just as concerned with what they are doing as we are. But we have much better opportunities and facilities to do things than they do. Why? Because we have higher duties to perform. But in human society people are always ignoring these duties and acting on the animal platform. Animals are just as concerned with what they are doing as we are. But we have much better opportunities and facilities to do things than they do. Why? Because we have higher duties to perform. But in human society people are always ignoring these duties and acting on the animal platform.

Perfectly constructed boat = Human body Captain = Spiritual master Favorable winds = Instructions of the Lord  human being who does not utilize human life to cross the ocean of material existence must be considered the killer of his own soul.. (SB ) Mantra 3

ätma-hä ätma-hä “If, with all these facilities, a human being does not fully utilize his life for self- realization, he must be considered ätma-hä, a killer of the soul. Çré Éçopaniñad warns in clear terms that the killer of the soul is destined to enter into the darkest region of ignorance to suffer perpetually.” Mantra 3 Purport

If we take up self-realization, our material needs will be provided. If we take up self-realization, our material needs will be provided.
