Global Distribution of GEF Transport Projects GEF support for transport project started in 1997; 64 projects in over 110 cities and 50 countries; $311million committed, with $5.1 billion leveraged in co-financing.

Asian Sustainable Transport & Urban Development Program First programmatic approach in the area of transportation Agency: Asian Development Bank Objective: Support Asian cities in realizing GHG reduction and local co-benefits through the integration of low-carbon transit infrastructure Financing: GEF $13.6 million; Co-financing $988 million Child Projects: –Bangladesh: Greater Dhaka Sustainable Transport Corridor Project –China: Jiangxi Fuzhou Urban Integrated Infrastructure Improvement, etc. –Mongolia: Urban Transport Development Project Key result so far: has mobilized other cities in the region to purse low- carbon transit system

GEF support for sustainable transport projects over the next four years ( ) Innovative policies and mechanisms for freight and logistics services with the engagement of the private sector Urban sustainable transport infrastructure and systems that reduce demand for car travel, including  Road and parking policies and pricing,  Zoning and street/urban design codes, and  Congestion pricing.
