I. JOHN’S INTRODUCTION

A. The title that John uses. who also am your brother (Rev 1:9) I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

JOHN IS ONE OF THE INNER CIRCLE Peter, James, and John his brother (Mat 17:1-2) And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

JOHN IS THE ONE WHO HEARD THE HEARTBEAT OF GOD disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper (Joh 21:20) Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?

JOHN IS THE ONE WHO JESUS GAVE HIS MOTHER whom he loved, (Joh 19:26) When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

JOHN WAS AN EYE WITNESS TO THE TOMB Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved (Joh 20:1-2) The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

II. JOHN’S LOCATION

IN THE SPIRIT NOT A TRANCE sawest in my right hand which thou sawest (Rev 1:20) The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. of all things that he saw (Rev 1:2) Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

III. JOHN’S DESTINATION

 Historically (These are 7 literal and historical churches of Asia Minor (Turkey) in 95 AD when the book was written.)  Inspirational (These churches represent the 7 characteristics of churches of today and the 7 strategies that Satan use to attack the church)  Doctrinally (Prophetical) (These churches represent the 7 periods of Church history from the book of Acts to the Rapture of the Church )

IV. JOHN’S OBSESSION

A.His voice

see the voice (Rev 1:12) And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

(Joh 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (Joh 1:14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us… heard the voice of the LORD God walking (Gen 3:8) And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
