EXTREME WEATHER IN THE WORLD

1. The coldest place The coldest place is located at the Russian Vostok polar station in Antarctica. The temperature reached - 89,2°C. Below the station is 4000 m depth in Lake Vostok. The lake covers an area of about 14.000 square kilometers

2. The warmest place The warmest place is located at El Aziz in Libya. On the 13th September 1922 the temperature reached 57.8 ° C. This was measured with a thermometer, which was located 5 m below the surface, so it is assumed that the surface temperature reached 66 ° by C! In July 1913, in Death Valley temperature reached 56.6 ° C.

3. The largest temperature difference The largest temperature difference was measured in Verkhoyansk in Siberia. The lowest temperature measured is - 68 ° C and maximum was 37 ° C

4. The greatest snowfall in one day The greatest snowfall in one day was in Bessans in France. During 19 hours, from 5th to 6th April 1969 it fell 173 cm of snow. 5. The worst snowstorm The worst snowstorm in the Mount Shasta Ski Bowl in California, USA. In a single storm duration from 13 to 19 December 1955 it fell 480 cm of snow 5. 4.

6. The lowest air pressure The lowest air pressure in the eye of typhoon was 870 hPa. 7. The highest air pressure The highest air pressure 1 083,8hPa was measured in Agata in Siberia on 31st December 1968. * Normal pressure is 1013.25 hPa.

8. The strongest tornado The strongest tornado swept Manikganj in Bangladesh. These series tornadoes killed 1,300 people. It happened in January 1989.

In northern Chile, Antofagasta Region (Atacama Desert), is allegedly the place where it has never in history (since the arrival of Europeans in the 16th century, since when there are historical records), rained ! The city of Arica in northern Chile's average annual rainfall of 0.8 - 1 mm and is also one of the driest places of the world.
