Group 1 Recommendations Community mobilisation and demand creation

Recommendations 1. Countries should develop a comprehensive communication strategy through consultations with the relevant stakeholders especially the communities Devise relevant communication channels/ mechanisms per the community depending on the uniqueness of each community Use buses to rural villages to post HIV related messages Fostering community participation The leadership at all levels of the community to play an active role.

2. EMTCT policy guideline with built-in M&E systems Clearly defined roles of all stakeholders. Cascade capacity building initiatives from the health centre level to the community levels. Resources mobilisation to enable and support community caregivers for increased access. Communities to be involved in the M&E of services to ensure accountability.

3. Scale-up involvement of men in elimination of Mother-to-child transmission of HIV FBOs to develop policies and programs on gender based matters with highlights of gender inequalities, gender based violence and sexual violence. Vigorous steps for attitude and behavioural changes
