Presentation transcript:

 Address: the author states the writer’s name, the co-senders, and those receiving the letter;  Greeting: This includes a short greeting such as: “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”;  Thanksgiving: The writer expresses his thanks, gives the reason why he wrote, and indicates his attitude toward those addressed in the letter;

 Message: In the body of the letter, the writer addresses issues, gives instructions, and encourages the reader;  Final Greeting: The writer often gives some personal comments about himself and those who were with him;  Blessing: The writer offers a prayer that the hearer will continue to follow Jesus and grow in their relationship with him and one another.

1) Use format and structure of letter writing described before; 2) Reflect on your own experience; 3) Use the handouts of Paul’s and Catholic letters distributed in the class;

1) What you think your life is currently saying to those around you? What is your life saying? What are people reading in you? Can they see the power of the Christ? Do they see your love for others? Do they see hope, strength, and peace? Do their interactions with you make them feel loved or give them a better perspective on life?

2) What do you want your life to say to other people. “I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way…. Open up your lives”. (Message from: II Cor. 6:11-13). In what way does your (everyday, personal) life need to be “opened up” or freed?

3) What advice would you like to offer to your friends or family? - As you offer advice, use the handouts of your classmates; choose and include at least one quote from each letter that you or others can learn from or might find meaningful; - Make sure to clarify why you find that verse or quote important.
