By Joey Camaratta And Keshav Basavapatna Name: Lithium Symbol: Li This product is used in batteries.

Lithium is black and can float on water. It is so soft that you can cut it with a knife. It can be used to make glass, ally, ceramics, magnesium, shock-resistant cookware, black-and-white television tubes, and thick lubricating grease.

Our element Lithium is in the Alkali Metal family

Why Lithium is used in batteries. Lithium is very easy to shape so you can make it almost any shape you want. Lithium is the lightest metal so it does not add much weight into the batteries. Lithium also prevents chemical leaking. This is the nickel plated steel that surrounds the lithium

Other elements in Batteries Manganese is used in batteries to help make the cathode. Zinc is used in batteries to help make the anode. Nickel is used to make the steel that surround the batteries. Zinc metal
