Description Bobsledding is a winter sport in which teams of two or four make timed runs down narrow twisting banked ice tracks in a gravity powered sled.

Bobsledding started in the late 19 th century. The Swiss put two skeleton sleds together and added steering controls to make a toboggan.

Who can compete Both men and women can compete in this event but you must be 18 or older.

FOUR MAN  Four man sleds have a maximum weight of 1,389 pounds and3.8 meters in length. TWO MAN  Two man sleds have a maximum weight of 860 pounds and 2.7 meters in length.

 There is a driver and three runners in four man sledding.  There is a driver and one runner in two man sledding.  Since 1960 the Italians, Swiss, Germans, and Austrians have dominated the medals.  Bobsledding has been a part of the Olympics since 1924.

 He believes in his Genes “My father and I always followed Bobsleigh since I was a child. In addition to the high speed there is a set of feelings and emotional tensions that make it unique. Until you try it you can fully understand,” said Simone.

Olympic Games Competed Simone has competed in the four man and two man events of the Vancouver winter games. Simone has also competed in the 2006 Torino Italy Olympic games in two man and four man.

 Simone began bobsledding in 1999 and is still competing.  Simone Bertazzo has not yet won any medals in the event of Bobsledding.  In Vancouver, Bertazzo came in 9 th place.  In Torino, Italy Bertazzo came in 12 th place.

Training Schedule Simone Bertazzo trains on Olympic grounds so that he can get used to the track. He also travels to Italy, his home town, to practice.

Simone Bertazzo Simone Bertazzo has a unique occupation as an athlete. He is a police officer but he is also an athlete. Simone has also sustained a six centimeter tear to his left hamstring in 2013.
